About the project

An office where design, sustainability and bespoke solutions reinforce one another.

When Bas (Sales Manager, Plan Effect) and Annette (Marketing Manager, Plan Effect) arrive at the new ASN Bank office in ’s-Hertogenbosch, they are welcomed by Francis Saris, interior architect and owner of Same-d, and Lisa de Rijke, Project Manager Housing & Interior (ad interim) at ASN Bank. Two professionals who know exactly why this office looks the way it does. “Everything had to be coherent and form a unified whole,” Lisa explains. “In appearance, in functionality and in sustainability.” This project is a clear example of how interior architecture, sustainability and bespoke partition systems can strengthen one another — and how collaboration, literally from sketch to finishing detail, results in an office employees are proud of.

An interior in motion
Francis guides us through the office and explains that the layout was designed with staggered spaces. Not rooms positioned one after another like train carriages, but a rhythm that creates movement and dynamism. “By introducing subtle shifts, the interior feels lighter and more dynamic,” she explains during the tour.

This sense of movement is also reflected in the materialisation. The solid timber partitions play a key role. They form a bespoke base partition system, finished with timber detailing that seamlessly integrates with the interior concept. The wood tone aligns perfectly with ASN Bank’s sustainable identity. Francis adds, “The patterns in the timber create calm and recognisability. They connect the spaces.”

Sustainability as a common thread
Lisa explains how essential sustainability was throughout the project. “We consciously selected materials with a long lifespan that contribute to a healthier working environment for our colleagues.” Felt panels were applied in several areas to enhance both acoustics and material experience, and furniture was reused wherever possible. “For example, we chose to reupholster all desk chairs so that, with a small refresh, they fit perfectly within the new design,” Lisa says. Plan Effect was able to align seamlessly with this vision, offering solutions that support both circular thinking and aesthetics.

Transparency with comfort
The design integrates multiple Plan Effect systems: GLASS-CONCEPT and framed doors. The glass partitions create openness and warmth, while the framed doors in a contemporary shade ensure an elegant unity throughout the design. Francis explains, “It’s a system that provides exactly the right level of transparency without compromising privacy.”

SERENITY double glazed
Around the focus rooms, double glazing was applied in the doors combined with acoustic glass within the SERENITY partitions. This combination ensures optimal acoustic performance — exactly what a modern, dynamic office environment requires. “Quiet where needed, open where possible,” Francis summarises.

Collaboration that makes the difference
What Francis particularly appreciated was the collaborative mindset. “Plan Effect contributed from the very beginning of the design process. That allowed us to develop a unique product together that perfectly matches ASN Bank’s vision.” Bas and Annette also look back with pride: an office where glass, timber and sustainable choices reinforce one another, and where every detail is carefully considered.

Pride as the final result
The new ASN Bank office in ’s-Hertogenbosch demonstrates what happens when design, sustainability and collaboration come together. An environment where employees feel comfortable and proud of where they work.
